Round 4
Wednesday 26th December 2013 – Chemo delayed over Christmas so I can enjoy the taste of dinner. Doctor John is impressed with my weight and blood results. All those years of bad living clearly have done me some good!
Day One
Expecting the usual side effects to occur at the usual time. I can now predict what happens when and hope that this continues to be the case.
Day Four
Fatigue is far worse than previously and my eyes are flickering a great deal more too. This might be due to the fact that I have finally succumbed to late nights and am heading to bed at midnight instead of a couple of hours earlier but still getting up at around eight.
Taste buds going.
Day Seven
No bowel issues as such this time around. The stool softener and remembering to drink A LOT of liquid have helped. Mild diarrhoea prevented by using immodium although there are times when I do think carefully about leaving the house.
Can’t taste much of anything. Food is now that which goes crunch or chocolate, lots of chocolate.
Day Fourteen
Usually by this point I am expecting the bone pain in my shoulder and the pain in the lower left rib area … No such thing. Result! A slight swelling below my breast on the rib cage but no pain. Perhaps having the booster injections in the leg has made a difference.
Beginning to cope better with being permanently tired, although the flickering eyes certainly let me know when I have had enough. Still can’t taste much of anything though.
Of course, this cycle will be slightly shorter as it was delayed due to Christmas so it is an eighteen rather than twenty-one day cycle.
