Round 3
Monday 2 December 2013
Day One
Fatigue and disrupted sleep so will be taking the sleeping pills.
Having spoken to the doctor about constipation, I have a liquid stool softener and am having no issues at all!
Day Five
Fatigue is making my eyes twitchy again. Fizzy fingers and feet continue on and off. Otherwise I am feeling okay.
Day Six
The taste buds have done their disappearing act once more. I certainly don’t have the stereotypical metallic taste but the closest feeling is perhaps the left over from a dental injection – a little swollen around the cheeks and gums with little to no taste of what I put into my mouth except at the extremities of my tongue.
This again causes issue when it comes to a menu for half of the cycle. For just over a week, I can enjoy the food I eat and taste it within reason (nothing like I used to) then for about another week, I can’t taste anything so have no real wish to eat much. Crunchy stuff works okay as does dark chocolate.
When it comes to drinks, apple juice has been the only drink I can consistently stomach. The rest taste odd enough at times to make me gag.
Noticed that the stubble on my head is making a bid for more freedom too so will need to either scrub a little more or use the shaver again as I keep finding little bits tickling my neck or shoulders.
Otherwise, still fizzy, still flickering, still fatigued.
Day Twelve
By now, the side effects appear to have settled into a recognisable ‘routine’. The shoulder bone pain makes its appearance on schedule as does the pain around the lower rib cage making it difficult to take full breaths. This limits me to the house as I can’t move around too much on shallow breathing. Painkillers help. This is nowhere near as bad as the first occurrence though so I can deal with it.
Another odd effect is the smell of my urine which is appalling. I assume this is the toxic drugs leaving via the best place for them, especially as another patient has been told not to use that same toilet as her two young children for the first week after treatment. Occasionally, urinating burns.
